Living Streams Connect: Celebration Concert
Join us for a special celebration concert marking the culmination of Living Streams Connect, a new music project of workshops and performances taking place across London from April to July. This unique Refugee Week performance brings together migrants and professional musicians to share new music inspired by rivers and themes of migration, staged in a house that at different times was home to Handel and Hendrix, two musicians who travelled to London and made it their home.
Doors open at 19:00
The performance is the culmination of a series of six workshops held at Handel Hendrix House. Through collective music-making and improvisation, participants have explored rhythm, singing and instruments, drawing on recordings of waterways from around the world. Using the musicality of water as a shared creative language, the project creates opportunities for cultural exchange and connection, resulting in new work inspired by participants' own experiences and traditions, while reflecting on human connection and our collective relationship with the natural world.
Living Streams Connect is led by Isa Suarez and delivered in partnership with Handel Hendrix House, Shelter From The Storm, Southwark Day Centre for Asylum Seekers, InspiralLondon, St John's Waterloo and Good Hotel. Funded by Arts Council England and supported by London Museum Docklands, Hear Me Out, Certain Blacks, Counterpoints Arts and Royal Docks Team, the project provides a relaxed and welcoming environment in which participants can express themselves, work together creatively and make music as a community.
