Historical paint consultant, and now author, Patrick Baty was the person charged with finding out what colour Handel’s house would have been when he lived here at 25 Brook Street more than 250 years ago. The grey now seen throughout Handel House was taken from analysing the few fragments of original paint that had managed to survive since the 18th century.

Patrick has now published an exhaustive guide to the use of colour and paint in interior decoration from 1660-1960, which includes a piece on the colour scheme of Handel House. The Anatomy of Colour is published by Thames & Hudson and available now.
