The Charming Brute: Joseph Goupy's caricature of Handel

Goupy was a friend and neighbour of Handel’s.
The two men fell out in 1743 when Handel refused Goupy’s request to write an opera for the Prince of Wales. Goupy responded to Handel’s stubbornness by publishing a caricature of the composer depicted as a fat boar playing the organ surrounded by food and drink.
