Rich’s Glory or his Triumphant Entry into Covent-Garden, Etching

Julia Semmer, author of George Frideric Handel. Ein Hallenser in London, tells the story behind this etching on display in Handel’s Dressing Room at 25 Brook Street. It is a satire, formerly attributed to William Hogarth, dated 1732 – when the new theatre in Covent Garden opened at exactly the spot now occupied by the Royal Opera House.
