Musical Time Travel
Our brand new learning programme takes students on an adventure from London in the 18th century, the 1960s and back to the present day complete with adventures and quests around our historic site. Whilst music is at the centre of this session, many other subject areas in the national curriculum will also be included creating a fun and engaging cross-curricular experience.
Handel and Baroque
Using one piece of Handel’s music as a subject focus, students will learn about Handel’s music and composition techniques, the baroque period, 18th century costume and 18th century London. Popular sessions include Zadok the Priest, Water Music, Music for the Royal Fireworks and Messiah but we are happy to focus on any of Handel’s Music that students are studying at school.
For GCSE and A Level groups, please note that we specialise in set-work focus and have an exceptional workshop for ‘And the Glory of the Lord’ from Messiah specifically tailored to the GCSE Music exam. We can also focus on Handel choruses more generically and are very happy to run session that talk about the Bach set-works in comparison to Handel’s music, particularly apt for A Level students.
Hendrix and the 1960s
Using music of the 1960s as our basis, students will learn about the 1960s as a defining era of popular music exploring the development of technology in the music business, the creation of the LP and the multitude of different musical styles from crooners to soul. This session will re-discover the musical sound world from which Hendrix was born.
