Flavia Hirte (flute)

Flavia Hirte is an Anglo-German flautist based in Amsterdam and London. She is active across Europe as a chamber and orchestral musician on both historical and modern flutes.

A founding member of Ensemble Molière, a British group specialising in French Baroque music, she can be heard discovering this beautiful genre across England.

As an orchestral musician she plays with groups such as Florilegium, Gabrieli Consort & Players, The Hanover Band and Musica Saeculorum. As a soloist she has concert experience through playing with the Guildhall Baroque orchestra, at the RCM and RAM, with the Amadè Players, at the Tilford Bach Festival and at the Freiburger Baroque Academy.

Alongside her degrees she participated in a number of prestigious training programmes, including: the OAE Experience Scheme, Jeune Orchestre Atlantique, Jeune Orchestre Hector Berlioz, Dartington Baroque Orchestra, Brighton Early Music Live!, Vadstena Academie and the European Union Baroque Orchestra.

Flavia has a BMus(Hons) from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, studying with Sarah Newbold, Ian Clarke, Philippa Davies and Katy Bircher. Her Master’s degree was completed at the Royal College of Music with distinction in 2015, under Lisa Beznosiuk and Rachel Brown. As a Music Talks Scholar, her studies were supported by an Ian Evans Lombe Award as well as by the MBF Postgraduate Performance Award, the Seary Trust and the YLCE.

Currently she is continuing her studies in Amsterdam with Marten Root and Vincent Cortvrint and is thrilled to have been selected for the Handel House Talent Scheme.
