Hannah Ely (soprano)

Soprano Hannah Ely read music at the University of Manchester, studying piano and voice. She went on to continue her piano studies at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, graduating with a distinction. During this time she also studied ensemble singing on the Sixteen’s inaugural Genesis Sixteen scheme with Harry Christophers and Eamonn Dougan.
Now living in London, Hannah works as a freelance soprano, performing as a soloist and with various ensembles. She is a core member of Siglo de Oro, Musica Secreta and the Fieri Consort, of which she is a founding member and manager. She also deputizes for groups including The Sixteen, Stile Antico and Tenebrae.
Having pursued her passion for early music, Hannah has recently completed a Master of Advanced Studies at Schola Cantorum Basiliensis on the Advanced Vocal Ensemble Studies programme. She is a part of Emma Kirkby’s Dowland Works ensemble, and is currently studying and performing the work of early female composers such as Barbara Strozzi.
