Katie has recently completed studies in historical performance at the Royal Academy of Music, where she received the San Martino Scholarship and the Dorothy Kennedy Davis Award. She previously studied music at Newnham College, Cambridge, and then at the Royal Northern College of Music, passing her Master’s in oboe performance with distinction and receiving the Winfield-Graham Prize for solo wind performance.
She is passionate about music education and has been a mentor with the Britten Sinfonia Academy and Yorchestra courses in York as well as teaching individuals. She greatly enjoys exploring music from the baroque period from a dance perspective as well as that of music, and is looking to combine the two in cross-curricular projects for schools. Having studied herself with Celia Nicklin and Jonathan Small on the modern oboe, she has studied the baroque oboe first with Tony Robson and currently with Katharina Spreckelsen.
She plays with several period instrument ensembles, including Arcangelo, Eboracum Baroque and Endelienta Baroque (with whom she is a founding member) and is a Britten Pears Young Artist.
