Graininess and Sheen (Listen to it here)
November 2011 | Handel House
A unique piece of composition weaving together fragments of interviews with several volunteers who give their personal responses to the House with sounds of the creaking floorboards commonly heard around the building. She created a trio out of the three keyboard instruments (two harpsichords and a spinet, housed in separate rooms) through recording her improvisations and reorganising and treating the material in the studio, and uses her voice to add an extra layer to the piece.
Badluck Birds
November 2012 | Handel House
Written for recorder quintet Consortium 5. It consists of 3 movements: Scribblie and Bog-Drum exist as live pieces with the idea that an audience member could ‘turn on’ and ‘turn off’ players as the piece progresses along. The third movement, Screech, is an interactive online piece made up of 51 fragments for recorder which can be arranged in different combinations by the user in this webgame which you can access here.
Lost River Songs
3 February 2013 | A walking tour and performance at Handel House
Inspired by the house’s location on Brook Street, the site of an old river, it explores the voices and sites of London’s lost rivers in the form of miniature songs for herself and classical/folk/improv trio 7 Hertz.
