July Highlights

July is here and our Summer events definitely won’t disappoint. Visit us this month for masterclasses with two world-renowned classical singers and some musical programmes dedicated to Handel and his music.

Masterclass with James Gilchrist and Gwen Martin

Friday 6 July, 11am-1pm

Recognised as one of the finest tenors of his generation, James Gilchrist will be working with Handel House Talent soprano Gwen Martin for a unique insight into vocal performance and musical expression.

French Baroque Masterclass

Saturday 7 July, 10.45am & 2pm

A great opportunity to explore Baroque music through watching the guidance of the Rameau Ensemble & acclaimed soprano Sandrine Piau.

 

 

Handel: Bravery and Beauty

Thursday 12 July, 1-2pm

Richard Robbins will be interpreting Handel’s relationship to power and beauty through a wonderful selection of some of his greatest songs and arias.

Junior Trinity Showcase

Saturday 14 July, 2-3pm

Our Studio will be overflowing with the sounds of cello, harpsichord and recorders at this showcase by Junior Trinity students.

Handel’s New Star: Giovanni Carestini

Thursday 19 July, 1-2pm

Featuring music from Handel’s operas Ariodante and Alcina, mezzo-soprano Joanna Harries will explore Handel’s relationship with the Italian castrato Giovanni Carestini.

Experience Handel live in Glyndebourne’s visually spectacular staging of Saul. Pairing baroque music with contemporary choreography to create an enthralling theatrical fusion of old and new. 

Stoke Newington Early Music Festival
1-17 July, The Old Church

A celebration of music from the 16th-18th centuries, from Elizabethan lute songs to Bach, at London’s only remaining Elizabethan church. This is the 24th year, making it one of the longest-established early music festivals in the country.
