Handel & Hendrix Homepage

Our new season of events is officially underway. Running from May-August, with a wide variety of events, including everything from walking tours to a concert on the Thames, this is not a season to miss.

Check out what’s coming up this month.

Faith and Fantasy

Tuesday 9th May, 6:30pm

We have a few final tickets remaining for this solo harpsichord recital. A great chance to hear some rarely performed composers of the Baroque era.

Learn about the musical contrasts between the portrayal of mythical creatures for the French court, and German church music composed to represent stories of combat and melancholy.

Rituals to Mould Her With

Friday 19th May, 7pm.

Don’t miss this new multimedia work inspired by the musical ritual that celebrated the Virgin Mary in early medieval Spain.

The performance will fuse together the harpsichord, electronics, percussion and theatre to make a cutting-edge performance that you’re not likely to forget.

Masterclasses

This month we have a series of masterclasses with a bassoon, recorder, and harpsichord focused in each. The perfect chance to find out the tricks and techniques behind each instrument from a master of the craft.

Masterclass with Han Tol (recorder)

Wednesday 17th May, 2pm

Han Tol is one of the most active recorder players in the world of early music and is in great demand as a teacher for masterclasses. We are very proud to announce that he will be performing with our very own Handel House Talent recorder player, Tabea Debus. This will be special opportunity to watch an interaction between a master and a young professional at the beginning of her career.

British Harpsichord Masterclass

Thursday 20th May, 2pm

The British Harpsichord Society welcomes a new generation of harpsichordists with keyboard specialist Nathaniel Mander.

A rare chance to hear two harpsichords played side by side.

Masterclass with Peter Whelan (bassoon)

Tuesday 30th May, 2pm.

Peter Whelan has a wide repertoire which spans four centuries, and is equally at home with modern and historical instruments. During this masterclass he will be demonstrating this vast knowledge whilst playing alongside our Handel House bassoonist, Catriona McDermid.
