Guitar Workshops

Saturday 5 October, 11am-12pm

This month’s workshop with our resident guitarist Nigel Jones will be about Mixing it up – mixing major and minor pentatonic scales over a 7th chord and how to get the best blues tones from doing this.

Doulce Mémoire

Tuesday 8 October, 6.30-7.30pm

The music in this programme by former Handel House Talent harpsichordist Marta López Fernández bridges the gap between late Renaissance and early Baroque.

The Golden Age

Tuesday 15 October, 6.30-7.30pm

Come and hear two rising stars of the European early music scene.

Sounds from the British Isles

Thursday 17 October, 1-1.45pm

This lunchtime concert aims to showcase the musical taste of eighteenth-century England, Scotland and Ireland.

Hendrix Talks

Saturday 19 October, 11am-12pm

The Jimi Hendrix Experience’s classic album Electric Ladyland was released in October 1968 so it makes sense for this month’s talk to focus on this essential record. Find out more about Hendrix’s innovations in guitar playing heard in songs like Crosstown TrafficBurning of the Midnight Lamp and All Along the Watchtower.

Mr Handel’s Royal Academy of Music

Wednesday 23 October, 7-8.30pm

Ensemble music by Handel by the Historical Performance Department from the Royal Academy of Music.

This concert is celebrating 300 years since Handel founded his own Royal Academy of Music and wrote some of his best-loved operas and chamber music.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience Returns to the Royal Albert Hall


Monday 21 October, 7.30pm

One of the greatest and most anticipated, unseen treasures in musical history will finally be revealed next month in London.  The Jimi Hendrix Experience: The Royal Albert Hall, a feature-length film that documents the last European performance of the original line up of the Jimi Hendrix Experience will be screened to the public for the very first time since it was shot 50 years ago at the very location where it was primarily filmed:  London’s historic Royal Albert Hall.
