Goosebumps of nervous excitement as I stand here.

Goosebumps of nervous excitement as I stand here.

As the summer ends and the season is changing, people have begun talking about Christmas parties and the fact that the builders won’t be here for them…. I confess I am getting a little nervous now as the end game looms. There are still some basic fundamentals that need completing; roof, loos, lift would all be handy and clearly we haven’t begun arranging the ash trays quite yet but it does feel that things are building to a climax.

The site office has been relocated so Jimi’s bedroom is once again completely empty. The electrical trunking that was fitted when it was the museum’s administrative office has been removed along with the mantelpiece that was not original to 1969. The space is taking on a very different feeling and I have taken the opportunity just to be stand in the room and think about the amazing changes to come.

And whilst I am in confessional mode I also ought to mention that at the end of this month I am moving onto pastures new. Now I know it is madness, as this is the most exciting moment of my career to date but I was unexpectedly offered something else equally amazing and after 11 year I have to go and seize the day! To ease my pain and to avoid withdrawal symptoms, I have, very luckily, been allowed to stay involved here at Hendrix towers until it opens to the public next February. This is a great relief all around not least because I can ensure the project remains on time and on budget, carry on blogging from time to time and of course check I am on that opening party guestlist!

Enthusiasm: Tetchy
Progress: Site office relocated
