Post 107: 45 years ago today
Exactly a year on from Post 61 and things have moved on considerably, we are not quite there yet but it won’t be long before visitors will be able to step in Hendrix’s footsteps.
One of my colleagues was sharing a story earlier today about his sister who in a telephone conversation only last night reminded him about meeting Jimi in the Chelsea Drug Store on the Kings Road. Being a very young lad, it seems he wasn’t too interested, and can’t now remember this encounter at all. Clearly it remains a vivid memory for his sister though, who managed to get Jimi’s autograph – unfortunately now long lost. Coincidental that this story should surface and be shared, unknowingly, on the eve of the anniversary of Jimi’s death.
Lots of people are thinking about Jimi today.
Enthusiasm: Thoughtful
Progress: Challenging details to finalise
Quote: “Apparently I carried on drinking my coke float.”

Had the pleasure of visiting Jim’s flat a couple of years ago (thanks) I have an easy way to remember when he left us, it’s my birthday. Thanks for looking after Jimi’s home.
Back in 1972 I bought two art nouveau figures from Circa 1900 Antiques in Chalk Farm Rd, the owner said he had had 3 figures but he had sold 1 to Jimmy Hendrix. thinking at the time this was a come on to get me to buy.
Imagine my surprise to see that very same figure on the mantle of Jimmy’s fire place in your opening page on your web site.
I’m well stoked as a life long fan of the master.
I still have the 2 treasured figures.
What a small world and thank you for sharing your story with us. It would be great if you could share a photograph of them both to [email protected]. Thank you again, Ella
