It is probably fair to say that the staff team at Handel House has become somewhat obsessed with Jimi Hendrix. Whilst we do have an erstwhile guitarist in our midsts I don’t think we fit a standard Hendrix fan base description. However I think all of us would now take a Hendrix track with us to our desert island. We spend a lot of our time trying to find out more about our new boy on the block and we particuarly enjoyed listening to this recording of his last interview with Keith Altham. Whilst many of you will be well aware of it I thought I would post it here. It is amazing to think that this incredible man who had so many plans and ideas would only live one week longer – tragic.

I’m enjoying your posts a great deal… but this one I found particularly poignant. When you’re a fan of Hendrix’s music you always want other people to hold him in the same regard as you do yourself. As for the last interview… well, it’s just plain sad.
Thanks for your comment. Learning about Hendrix has been an extremely enjoyable learning curve for me, I am very lucky to have this opportunity. But I don’t think I will ever be able to be a fully fledged member of the fan club. To do so I feel I should have discovered the music in a rebellious moment as a teenager not quite so late in life. Unfortunately I was too distracted by Shostakovich and REM at the time. Is it possible to become a true fan later in life?
Of course, you can climb on board any time you like. And I’ll give this cat, Shostakovich a try
Excellent 🙂
