Post 22: Digging the leaves
Enthusiasm level: Joyous
Progress: Brilliant detail
Quote: “Tea with two sugars please”
Kathy Ethchingham lived here at 23 Brook Street with Jimi Hendrix and she has been very generously providing us with glorious nuggets of detail about life in the flat. These insights will provide fascinating facts for the exhibition particularly about some of the more mundane aspects of life that we can all relate to. Like, for example, drinking tea. Apparently Jimi learnt to drink tea in London like a true Brit. Enjoying milky, leaf tea (couldn’t really get teabags so readily then) with two sugars. Kathy very kindly sent an image of the teapot that they had in the flat. Armed with the image Dug, one of the exhibition designers, began some investigations – I think that was a lot more fun than thinking about the air circulation unit in the exhibition. Anyway brilliantly he discovered for sale online the teapot that looked exactly like the image Kathy had sent – and it was only £20. Watch out for more stories from Dug as he has agreed to guest edit a blog entry for me. He really does have the best job!
