Post 54: Fashion thoughts
I am in extremely constructive conversations with the team from the Museum of London and I hope that at some future date we will be able to have a brilliant collaboration with them around the Hendrix story. Amongst other things, they have very generously allowed us to see if there might be anything useful for us to borrow for our exhibition in their enormous collection. Having looked at their collection online I am not sure there is anything quite right for our planned interpretive approach but whilst reviewing it I couldn’t help noticing the Ossie Clark dresses that they have. Apparently Ossie Clark along with his wife Celia Birtwell designed some clothes for Hendrix as she reported in her Desert Island Disc interview. It can be heard here and if you listen for long enough she also mentions her love of Handel – clearly a woman after my own heart.
Whilst at the Museum of London I also enjoyed an amusing Experience related story from someone I met there. He explained that as a 14 year old boy in Ireland he ran the local boys club and completely amazingly managed to persuade Noel Redding to come and perform a gig there. Apparently great fun was had trying to sneak in many pints of Guinness for the performers behind the curtains without anyone noticing.
