Post 63: Inch by inch

So despite slow and somewhat painful process I think we are getting there. Paperwork, phone calls and emails are flying around in abundance, each of which is inching us towards that illusive start post. In the meantime Hendrix references abound elsewhere. My eagle eyed colleague Ella has passed me 5 Hendrix references in print and online today. It is actually getting a little out of hand how often he is mentioned.

This week’s mixed bag includes an article in the Evening Standard about Lenny Kravitz who references Hendrix’s look, an amusing cutting from The Oldie given to me by one of our lovely volunteers about Jimi going to Morocco once and possibly staying one night in a hotel there, a wonderful picture on line of Simon Heffer at the Conservative party conference sitting in front of a picture of the Electric Ladyland album cover (that Jimi hated) and an article about Prince’s latest album in the Telegraph which references the Hendrix influence.

Come to think of it as young person I had both Prince and Lenny Kravitz albums in my pathetically small “pop” music collection. So perhaps it was inevitable I would find Jimi and it wasn’t altogether essential that I work in his bedroom to come to realise his brilliance.
