Post 81: Progress, protection and perfume
So Jimi Hendrix’s bedroom in Brook Street has now had many lives; bedroom, office, Christmas party venue, lunch room, meeting room and its current incarnation as the site office. Protective material has been put over the floors and instead of rugs and hangings, the walls are adorned with Health and Safety notices, programmes of work and various instructions. However my favourite area is hard hat corner.
The particularly jolly and smiley scaffolders have, for the moment, finished and left the site and the serious builders have been setting about their work with gusto. I wonder if they all appreciate that Hendrix’s recording of “All along with Watchtower” is currently the music for Chanel’s latest advert for their fragrance for men, Bleu. I assume Chanel think that as well as hip and trendy Hendrix now conjures up high end!

“H&S is a priority on site.”
well, you have to say that I guess. Keep up the good work Sarah and thanks for the continuing updates. How do I ensure I’m among the first to visit when you open?
Now that this has all finally become so much more real I am just turning to the issue of opening plans. As you can imagine is a bit of a moveable target however all the variables are gradually being dealt with so hope to have something concrete worked out soon. Suffice to say I am sure you loyal readers will definitely be in the visitor vanguard.
Sad that the Hendrix estate followed the money in allowing the use of ‘All Along The Watchtower’. Wonder what Dylan thinks about it?
Thanks for sharing!!
Keep bringing more 🙂
