50 years on from 1967 and the Summer of Love, this is going to be our biggest celebration of Hendrix yet. We’ve got a day of Hendrix talks, a series of walking tours and another Hendrix Flat party at 23 Brook Street. Find out more below:

Monterey 50

Saturday 17 June, 1.30-4.30pm

In June 1967 Jimi Hendrix played one of the most iconic performances of the sixties. That summer, Hendrix arrived in the US a relative unknown, and “when he left the stage, he had graduated from rumour to legend”.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Hendrix’s extraordinary performance, we celebrate with a series of talks by some Hendrix experts:
Dr. Christian Lloyd – author of Hendrix at Home: a Bluesman in Mayfair, Christian will be talking about Hendrix’s impact on the London music scene and the weeks leading up to Hendrix’s Monterey performance.
Nigel Jones – our resident guitar teacher will be using his Fender Strat and some of the same effects pedals Hendrix used to demonstrate how Jimi created the unique guitar sound that blew the audience away at Monterey.
Keith Altham – The legendary rock journalist, and Hendrix’s PR guru, Keith will be recounting some of the amazing experiences he shared with Jimi, including coming up with the idea for him to light his guitar on fire, and being the last person to interview Hendrix only 5 days before his death in 1970.

A Night of Peace and Music

Friday Late – Woodstock Anniversary

Friday 18 August 2017, 7-10pm

Last February, in the occasion of the 1st anniversary of Jimi Hendrix’s flat opening, we had a sold-out Friday Late. Following the huge success of that event, we will celebrate the Woodstock anniversary with another Hendrix Flat party.

Special parts of the house will be opened to the public for the occasion, including the stairs at 23 Brook Street that Hendrix would have walked up to get to the third-floor flat, and the guest room where George Harrison famously stayed.
