Friday Late – Woodstock Anniversary
A Night of Peace and Music
A Woodstock Anniversary Party.
Following the huge success of our sold-out Friday Late in February, join us for another Hendrix Flat party. This time we’ll be celebrating all things Woodstock on the same date Hendrix famously headlined the festival.
For the evening, special parts of the house will be open to the public, including the stairs that Hendrix would have walked up to get to his third-floor flat, and the guest room where George Harrison, among others, famously stayed.
The tunes will be provided by London-based producer and DJ Throwing Shade (Ninja Tune records) whose music has received critical acclaim from the likes of The Guardian, NME and Dazed and Confused magazine. She’ll be playing a Woodstock inspired DJ-set showing off her extensive 60s record collection – as showcased on her Hendrix specials for NTS Radio.
Alongside the music, we’ll have impromptu performances by “London’s Go-To 1960’s and 1970’s Go-Go Dancers!” The Meyer Dancers, plus live guitarists, film projections, psychedelic face painting and the chance to dress up in genuine vintage gear from the late 60s.
All of this will go alongside a pop-up photography exhibition in association with Iconic Images, showcasing some of the amazing shots taken by Baron Wolman at Woodstock (image above).
We are also proud to announce that the bar for the evening will be sponsored by Mateus Rosé. There is an iconic image from ’69 of Jimi drinking Mateus, but what some may not know is that this picture was taken in his bedroom here in Brook Street. In fact, there is still a bottle of Mateus on his bedside table today as a tribute to his love of the brand.
