Handel’s Hollander

Musicians
Daniel Boothe (violin)
George Ross (cello)
Timothy Nelson (harpsichord)
Description
Though Willem de Fesch was born and raised in the Netherlands in 1710, after a disastrous post as maestro de capella in Antwerp he heeded the call of the metropolis of London, where he met the great Handel and spent the rest of his life, at times in competition with Handel, and at times his most trusted player, concertmaster of his orchestra. As a composer, de Fesch had been publishing small and large scale works since his twenties, and for this program, the Amsterdam-based ensemble, ‘t Kabinet explores a few of his intimate chamber sonatas and the influence that Handel had upon them.
