The Poetry of Jimi Hendrix

The Poetry of Jimi Hendrix

Part of the Mayfair Times Mayfair & St James’s Literary Festival – in association with the Josephine Hart Poetry Foundation.

Description

For the first ever Mayfair & St James’s Literary Festival, we are hosting an afternoon of talks and poetry readings focusing on the importance of Jimi Hendrix as a songwriter and lyricist.

The afternoon will be led by Dr Christian Lloyd, writer and author of Hendrix at Home: a Bluesman in Mayfair. Christian will be talking about who and what influenced Hendrix’s lyrics, putting them in relation to other famous songwriters and poets.

We are also hugely excited to have two of London’s most exciting young poets joining us – The Repeat Beat Poet & Antonia Jade King – who will talk about how Hendrix has had an influence on them and read selections of their own work.

Venue: The Studio
Tickets: £15*

*Includes a tour of the Hendrix Flat, where Jimi lived from 1968-69.

When: 19th Oct 2018 at 15:00
