Description

John Beard and Cecilia Young-Arne were rather unusual for famous, professional singers of the 18th century in London because both were English within a largely Italian line-up.

Both singers were both within a few years of one another and worked frequently together, often performing as paired lovers.

In this programme Janet Forbes (soprano), James Liu (tenor) and Thomas Allery (harpsichord) explore the voices and characters from the arias and duets written for these two little-known jewels of home-grown, 18th century talent.
