Count the Composers
This January 27th and February 23rd mark Mozart's 270th and Handel's 341st birthdays! This half term, help us celebrate their birthdays with a playful activity around the House. Inspired by our upcoming exhibition Handel Through Mozart’s Eyes, we’ve hidden small, birthday-hatted Handels and Mozarts throughout the rooms - how many can you spot as you explore?
Although born 71 years apart, Handel had a profound influence on Mozart’s music. From childhood, Mozart studied Handel’s fugues, oratorios and odes, shaping his own use of counterpoint and musical expression. Count the Composers celebrates this creative connection through a simple, colourful activity, ideal for children and curious visitors of all ages.
Crafts
Design a Paper Doll
Step into two very different musical worlds and design your own paper doll inspired by the fashions of the 18th century and the 1960s.
Choose your outfit, mix and match your look, and add your own colours and creative touches in true Handel Hendrix House style. From Georgian gowns to bold 1960s silhouettes, this simple, hands-on activity invites children (and creative grown-ups!) to explore fashion across the centuries.
Take your paper doll home and continue the creativity long after your visit.
