Famed countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo, Honorary Chairman of The Handel House Foundation of America, will present a selection of his favourite Handel arias in the very rooms in which Handel would have first rehearsed and performed them with Senesino, Carestini and other opera stars of his day.

Step into Handel’s home to relive the experience of the great master performing to his closest friends and patrons at this intimate recital and dinner in Handel’s London home in support of The Handel House Trust and The Handel House Foundation of America.

In addition to the recital, the evening will include a champagne reception and dinner in Handel’s home, which was triumphantly restored in 2023. With one table sitting just 24 people, and in the company two of today’s leading performers of baroque music, this exclusive evening will capture the feel of the dinners Handel hosted in these very rooms for his friends.

Anthony has generously donated this recital as a fundraising evening in support of the artistic, education and social impact programs at Handel Hendrix House and the care of its precious historic spaces.

With just 22 places available, this is a truly rare opportunity to hear Anthony, one of the world’s most dazzling singers, perform in the intimate and historic setting of Handel’s home in the company of others who care deeply about Handel’s music.

25 Brook Street was Handel’s London home for over thirty years. Cared for by the Handel House Trust with the active support of the Handel House Foundation of America, it opened as a museum in 2001 and was beautifully restored in 2023. It has been enjoyed by thousands of visitors who come to immerse themselves in Handel’s world. Visitors can also visit the home of Jimi Hendrix, who lived next door for two years in the attic apartment at 23 Brook Street.

Key to the Handel Hendrix House experience are the live baroque music performances by young professional musicians that are presented in Handel’s principal room on weekends for visitors at no additional charge. These performances introduce baroque music and instruments to new audiences and powerfully evoke how the house must have been in Handel’s day, with the sounds of rehearsal, composition and performance filling the rooms. From solo recitals on the museum’s Kirckman harpsichord to performances by singers, viol duos, recorder consorts and more, the musicians present Handel’s music in the context of his home and the music of his contemporaries.

To date, more than 100 live performances of baroque music have been offered to visitors sine we re-opened in May 2023.

Anthony Roth Costanzo:

“Ever since I was a young singer, the Handel Hendrix House has served as a great inspiration, making the past feel tangible and illuminating the underpinnings of music that has come to define me.”
