Both Handel and Hendrix's homes will be opulently dressed for Christmas this year from Thursday, November 21 through to Sunday, December 22, 2024,
with late night openings on some Thursdays. Step inside the magic of Handel Hendrix House and experience the historic rooms as they sparkle with timeless festive decorations inspired by music.
Just minutes from Oxford Street, Handel Hendrix House is the perfect place to take a break from shopping and get back into the festive spirit.
Handel wrote Messiah at his Brook Street home in just 24 days in August-September 1741. Although first performed at Easter, the piece is firmly associated with Christmas with countless performances taking place at this time of year. Jimi Hendrix dressed as Santa Claus for a photoshoot with Dezo Hoffman to promote the launch of the album Axis: Bold as Love in December 1967 and an album of Hendrix playing Christmas music was released posthumously in 1974.
The Meyer Dancers will bring the party with their performances live from Jimi's bedroom. You will be able to join them in some groovy 1960's go-go dancing as they teach you some retro moves!
