New exhibition: Making a Home
The new exhibition, open until Sunday 23 November, shares creative work made by young people inspired by the stories of the museum. The project has taken place in collaboration with partners Unfold and Play for Progress and supported by The Lindbury Trust.
As Grace Scott Deuchar, Learning and Communities Manager at Handel Hendrix House explains: “The young people – all of whom are currently seeking asylum in the UK and are being mentored by Unfold – spent six weeks discovering the heritage and stories of the museum and exploring poetry, music and art in workshops facilitated by Play for Progress. We hope visitors to the house will enjoy encountering the young people’s creativity, filled with the hope of new beginnings.”
Dajah, who took part in the project said: "My favourite part was hearing our recorded song. It was exciting to see all of our hard work come together. I also really enjoyed working as a team and hearing how our individual parts created something much bigger and more powerful when combined."
