RW WEBSITE

Ronnie Wood’s connection to Hendrix was personal as well as musical. The pair first met in New York while Wood was playing bass with the Jeff Beck Group, later jamming together and even briefly sharing a flat in London. See this shared history reflected in Wood’s portraits, which capture both the energy of Hendrix the performer and a more intimate understanding of the man behind the guitar. Displayed here at 23 Brook Street, Jimi’s former home, they offer a personal tribute from one musician to another.

Art and music have always gone hand in hand for Ronnie Wood. Formally trained at Ealing College of Art before establishing his musical career, he has continued to paint and draw throughout his life, often finding his subjects among the musicians he has admired, known and performed alongside. His work has been exhibited internationally, with his portraits reflecting the close relationship between his life as an artist and as one of rock and roll’s most celebrated guitarists. We are delighted to bring these two creative worlds together at Handel Hendrix House.
