This season, we are exploring the theme of Handel in literature. Handel’s work is referenced by many literary greats across the centuries that have passed. It was also discussed and critiqued in letter, diaries, newspapers, treatises, poems and more during Handel’s lifetime, and many of his vocal works illustrate and animate some of the most seminal texts of the 18th century. This programme delves into the relationship between Handel’s music and the words written about it, for it and from it.
